Commissions

Do you need a painting for a specific event, space or person? Or perhaps you need some invitations designed for your wedding? I’m more than happy to chat with you if so! I have painted large original paintings for clients, designed fabric, designed images for website banners, illustrated book and magazine foldouts and a full range of stationery items from invitations to business cards.

The price of an Art Commission is primarily driven by size, composition, detail and by the amount of time required to complete your artwork to your personal specifications.

The process begins with an initial discussion.

The things you may like to consider are: -The dimensions of your artwork, the colours you would like to emphasise and finally the subject of the composition. Once the composition has been decided upon a quote and brief will be supplied to ensure both parties are happy with what has been discussed.

If you are happy to proceed a 50% deposit will be required before the commencement of the painting.

On completion of the painting/design, a digital image will be emailed to you. At this stage, I provide an opportunity for you to make any small changes to the painting. Any changes will be charged at an hourly rate on top of the initial fee.

FAQ’s

What type of commissions do you take on?

I am very selective with the type of commissions I take on. I want to make sure that the job suits me and I suit it! In that way, everyone gets the best outcome. I take on clients who trust me to paint in my style and give me some leeway to interpret their brief creatively. So sorry folks if you are in need of paintings of your pets - that’s not me! However, I’m more than happy to chat about commissions to paint botanicals or abstract landscapes.

I need artwork in the style of . . . Can you do that for me?

I value my artist community and I don’t take on commissions that will hurt it in any way, this includes making copies of other artists’ work. By employing me to make work for you, you are engaging me to paint/design in my style and you are getting a unique artwork in the process.

What is the process of commissioning a work?

Send me an inquiry with initial details using the form below. I will get in contact via email to discuss initial options and I’ll send you a brief form to fill out. I find this is better in writing as it gives both parties something to refer back to. We will also agree on a timeline for completion.

Once we have decided on size constraints and subject matter, a 50% deposit will be required to go any further. Once this is paid, I will get back to you with a very loose pen sketch of the composition I think will work best for your project, I will also supply a potential colour palette. You can request changes at this point. If you have a complete change of mind at this stage and require different options from this initial sketch, this will be charged at an additional $50 per sketch.

Once this is approved I go ahead with painting/designing. On completion, I will send you a digital image of the work for approval. Any changes that you request at this stage will be charged at an hourly rate. Finally, in payment of the last 50%, the artwork will be wrapped and sent to you.
