The Wandering Brush - Wild Painting in the Australian Bush with Emily Raubenheimer

A$230.00

Discover the joy of setting up your canvas amidst native flora, guided by my experience and passion for plein-air painting. With the backdrop of the untamed bush as your muse, learn to translate the vibrant colours and intricate details of the landscape.

Under my instruction, participants will explore colour theory, composition, the interplay of light and shadow, the textures of foliage, and the dynamic energy of the outdoors. This workshop is an opportunity to connect with nature in a profound way, allowing the natural surroundings to inspire and inform your artistic expression.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner, my supportive teaching style aims to encourage individual growth and creativity. Class sizes will be kept small and intimate.

Each month I will choose a different venue to explore and paint, sharing with you my favourite scenic spots. The first workshop in this series will be held at Lerderderg State Park, which is an easy 30-minute drive from Melbourne.

Where and when:

What to expect:

We will embark on a short hike or walk into the bush (around 3 -5km). Setting up in some shade we will spend the morning painting the landscape and its flora. Unless there is severe rain, be prepared to work in all weather, dirt mud and rain all add to the experience. Expect a rustic authentic experience. We won’t be setting up elaborate easels, this workshop is designed to show you how to easily trek and paint with minimal supplies. *Please read my extreme weather clause

What to bring:

A hat, small rucksack or backpack, comfortable walking shoes, bug spray, sunscreen, lots of drinking water and a packed lunch. A folding chair or cushion to sit on if you feel you will need it. A light long-sleeved shirt is good to protect from the sun.

What I supply:

  • Small portable boards for painting which you can take home afterwards

  • Paper

  • Acrylic Paint

  • Palette and brushes

  • Containers for cleaning brushes

Take-home Painting kit for purchase:

I will supply paint and brushes on the day for us to use and share. However, if you would like your own kit to practice with at home - you can purchase this here and I will bring it for you on the day.

*Extreme weather events: In the case of an extreme weather event (hail, extreme heat, heavy rain or fire) you will be offered credit towards a make-up class which can be redeemed at any of my other workshops in that same year. I do not offer refunds in the case of extreme weather. In the case of cancellation, I will email or text you.
